Stanford University GSB Hosts Sakuu CTO

Karl Littau, Sakuu’s chief technology officer, was the featured speaker at a SustainX “fireside chat” on May 14, 2025, held by the Stanford Energy Club and Stanford Founders community at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business in Palo Alto.

Revolutionizing Battery Manufacturing: Printing the Future of Energy explored how Sakuu is challenging conventional battery production by leveraging dry-process printing to reduce costs, improve performance, and unlock entirely new design possibilities for energy storage.

Other key themes included:

  • Bridging the gap between printing and electrochemistry
  • Replacing entrenched battery manufacturing methods with scalable dry processes
  • Navigating cost vs. performance in high-stakes energy storage
  • Building a more sustainable, low-waste battery supply chain
  • What printed batteries mean for mobility, consumer tech, and beyond

During the event, Karl shared capability updates on Sakuu's Kavian™ Platform for dry process electrode manufacturing, a single piece of equipment that uses less than half of the factory footprint of conventional wet coating, drying, and calendering equipment.
