Arwed Niestroj, SVP of Product at Sakuu, presented at BEVA (Battery Electric Vehicle) conference in Detroit, Michigan, June 20-21, 2023. Arwed's presentation focused on Sakuu’s innovations for achieving next-level battery pack density and integrating custom, 3D printed high-energy batteries in EV architecture. 

Sakuu announces its safer, high energy, high power density Li-Metal Cypress™ cell chemistry for manufacturing licensing. Lithium-metal battery chemistries produce increased energy density and additional performance benefits, but typically present development challenges due to high reactivity. However Cypress has solved these issues through novel electrochemistry, making lithium-metal chemistry ready for scalable production.

Sakuu is collaborating with Livent Corporation (“Livent”; NYSE: LTHM) under an existing joint development agreement (“JDA”) for the use of Livent’s proprietary LIOVIX® printable lithium formulation in Sakuu’s battery 3D printing process. The LIOVIX® platform includes applications for pre-lithiation and lithium metal anode manufacturing.

Sakuu announces that its first-generation non-printed lithium metal battery has achieved continuous 3C discharge rate under extensive testing. This 800Wh/l high energy density battery will go-to-market 4Q2022.

Today's achievement marks a significant milestone on Sakuu’s roadmap to fully 3D printable solid-state batteries capable of greater than 1200 Wh/L by 2023.

Sakuu announced a follow-on financing round bringing total funds raised to date to $62M. This funding bolsters the company’s ability to commercialize its first-generation solid-state batteries.

Sakuu announced the commencement of its pilot line and learning center. Sakuu’s pilot line will have the capability to produce up to 2.5 MWh per year of solid-state batteries and in the future will also serve as a customer learning center for its advanced additive manufacturing platform.

Sakuu has announced that it has developed a new safe 3Ah lithium-metal, 30 sub-cell, solid-state battery that could deliver even greater energy performance than current lithium-ion batteries by up to 25% in future.
