Sakuu CTO Explores Challenges in Tesla’s DBE Production Tech
Sakuu CTO shares insights on Tesla’s dry battery electrode technology efforts and challenges in scaling its manufacturing processes.
Battery Technology recently published an article by Sakuu CTO Karl Littau.
In “Sakuu Explores Challenges in Tesla’s DBE Technology Production,” Karl explains how Tesla’s DBE process was built on novel materials used in a novel way — and he also explains why what worked on paper, and even in R&D and testing, turned out to be hard to scale in real-world manufacturing.
According to Karl, "DBE processing should produce durable high-energy batteries more efficiently. That’s the only assignment. Anything that decreases reliability or increases costs is anathema."
Karl also states that "a more practical approach to the DBE process is simply to do what already works in standard production, but do it dry instead of wet."
